Summer in Concan is busy. Generations of Texans fl Summer in Concan is busy. Generations of Texans flock to the Frio to beat the Texas heat. Like so many of you, we grew up coming out here, and so did my grandparents. When they were in high school, my grandparents would dance to Blackland Farmer played from the old jukebox at Garner State Park. That song still plays at the nightly summer dances. 😍

Floating the Frio is a Texas tradition, but it does get crowded. If you’re an introvert like me, you probably want a little more space to yourself. Peak season runs Memorial Day through Labor Day. To truly avoid the crowds, plan your trip for before or after peak season. It’s hot enough to swim, but way less crowded.
